[ARCHIVED] Milling and Paving East Ave. (US Route 1 to East Wall St.)

paving

EAST AVENUE (US ROUTE 1 TO EAST WALL STREET)

August 31, 2018

Dear Residents & Owners,

The City of Norwalk, through its Contractor, The Grasso Companies, LLC, under the contract PM 2018-1, anticipates milling the street listed above in preparation for paving. The milling is expected to begin on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The work will involve the removal of the top layer(s) of asphalt, creating a grooved surface. Work will take place sometime between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am. If bad weather, equipment problems, or scheduling cause construction to be postponed, work will likely commence the following day/night. If work does not start by the week mentioned, residents will be re-notified at a later date. The Contractor will post “No Parking” signs approximately a day or two in advance of construction taking place. Any parked vehicles that interfere with construction will be towed at the owner’s expense.

During the milling, please drive slowly through the area, anticipate delays, and plan your day so as not to landlock your vehicles. Access to and from your residence may be limited at various times of the day until approximately 7:00 am. The milling may temporarily leave a drop of 2 inches, or more, in front of your driveway. If this is the case, the Contractor will place material in front to aid in access. However, please still take care when pulling into and out of driveways.

Paving of the above street is expected to also take place on Friday, September 7, 2018. Please keep cars off the street. If days go by without paving after the milling is complete, you will likely be re-notified when the paving is scheduled to be completed.

Should any damage to curbs or driveway aprons occur or if drainage problems evolve as a result of construction, please contact Customer Service at (203) 854-3200. Since the City is requesting that the Contractor remedy such problems within two weeks of paving, the City is asking residents to address any concerns within one week after paving. If residents don’t notify the City of potential problems within that week, they may have to wait for the problems to be remedied at a later date. Thank you for your cooperation.

NOTE: Please drive slowly over the grooved asphalt surface.  Also, please turn slowly on the new paved surface as sharp turns will damage the newly paved road. Mechanical problems or weather may delay the start-up or completion of the road.

If your garbage day falls on the day we pave it must be out by 7am!
