Mayor Rilling is excited to announce the unveiling of Norwalk’s new brand The Sound of Connecticut. The Mayor emphasized that competition between places to live, work and play has never been greater. Norwalk is a desirable and accessible small city and the Mayor is confident that the City’s new brand will help Norwalk stand out from the many choices that people face every day.
Mayor Rilling stated that “a brand was necessary to help reposition Norwalk. Our visual brand and identity system will become a recognized symbol of Norwalk’s progressive and connected vibe. We understand and live the brand’s values, goals and promises on a daily basis.“ The Mayor further stated that “our brand strategy will influence and shape the way the community and others think, feel and respond to the City of Norwalk.” A destination brand like the City of Norwalk is a unique blend of physical, intangible and emotional benefits that clearly differentiate it from other choices. Norwalk’s brand is a City of the People – A Connected City – A Visionary City – An Economically Vital and Prosperous City – A City of Environmental Stewardship – A Responsibly Led City.
Norwalk’s branding project has been underway since last fall. Norwalk’s brandmark was developed by the Zunda Group, a local business with guidance by a dedicated team of residents and employees who worked as a steering committee. Gary Seve Esposito Principal, Chief Strategy Officer for the Zunda group stated “The rebranding of Norwalk was an extremely unique and exciting project. While other cities and towns have tried to reinvent themselves recently, Norwalk didn’t need to be reinvented. It simply needed to be understood. Furthermore, while other cities can hang their hat on one or two outstanding attributes, Norwalk’s wealth of offerings, attributes and diversity made communicating it’s big personality a challenge. So I’m extremely happy with our “Sound of” theme being the vehicle to capture this diversity while simultaneously talking to our waterside heritage.”
Norwalk’s new brand will be unveiled to the public at 9:15 am on Thursday, April 7th at a press conference to be conducted outside the Council Chamber (3d floor) at City Hall.
