Mayor Rilling Announces Public Workshop for Manresa Island Reuse Study

Mayor Rilling Announces September 25th Public Workshop for Manresa Island Reuse Study

Norwalk, CT- The City of Norwalk is currently working in a public/private partnership with the Manresa Association and their consultant, Fitzgerald & Halliday Inc. of Hartford, to conduct an economic analysis and develop a reuse plan for the former Manresa Island Power Plant property.

In support of this effort, the public is invited to attend the second workshop on Monday, September 25th at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue, Norwalk.  The workshop will be preceded by an open house at 6:00 pm.  This workshop builds upon a prior workshop held in May.

The study team will provide an update of the study findings and seeks feedback on specific potential reuses of the Manresa Island property.

The goal of this effort is to assess potential future uses of the property and identify measures that the City can take to encourage a desirable reuse of the property.  The City seeks to ensure that future uses of the site will add to the health and well-being of Norwalk, be complementary to the surrounding neighborhoods, and adequately address environmental concerns associated with the site.

Fitzgerald & Halliday Inc. is the lead consultant on this project and is working closely with the City of Norwalk and the Manresa Association.  Inquiries can be directed to Francisco Gomes, Senior Project Manager (fgomes@fhiplan.com) or Elizabeth Stocker, Director of Economic Development for the City of Norwalk (estocker@norwalkct.org )
