Status of Grant Funded Programs
The Per Capita and HIV grant programs were most affected by State budget cuts. The per capita allocation was reduced from $93,954 to $78,987, a 15% cut. The requested amount for HIV was $397,160 and the award was $164,666. Several program components were eliminated and staffing was reduced.
Hatch & Bailey
The Public Health & Welfare Committee, a sub group of the Common Council requested the assistance of several city departments to deal with complaints from neighbors of the Hatch & Bailey Company. The Health Department is monitoring the site for excessive dust and to date a nuisance has not been identified. The Hatch & Bailey Company installed a sprinkler system to better control dust,
Food Establishment Survey
A motion to accept and distribute the food establishment survey report was made by Mr. Lalime, seconded by Dr. McNamara and passed unanimously.
Environmental Fees
A revised schedule of environmental fees was reviewed and revisions were discussed. Changes will be made and the revised schedule will be distributed prior to the October meeting. A public hearing on the changes to fees will be held prior to the start of the October meeting.
Other Business
Americares and the Norwalk Health Department are developing an agreement whereby Americares will use the Health Department as its sole source for travel immunizations. The Health Department proposes to waive the session fee for visits.
A motion to waive the session fee for this sole provider agreement with Americares was made by Dr. Tracey, seconded by Mr. Lalime and passed unanimously.
