2017 MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION: NOVEMBER 7th, 2017
REGISTRATION: IN PERSON, BY MAIL, OR ON-LINE: For the November 7th Election, the last day to register to vote is October 31, 2017. Mail to the Registrar's Office (Room 122, Norwalk City Hall, Norwalk CT, 06851), or Register In Person by hand-delivery to the Registrars office, the DMV, or voter-registration agency, or register on-line, based on your Connecticut Drivers' License, using the Secretary of the State's website.
The Registrar's office will be open until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening October 31.
Note: Persons whose rights as to age, citizenship, or residence matureafter October 31, 2017, may apply up to Noon November 6, 2016.
Also Note: Connecticut law allows for Election Day Registration (EDR), so if you have not registered to vote by the above cut-off dates, it is still possible to come into City Hall on Election Day — November 7 (between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M.) register and vote. Persons wishing to do so must have a valid I.D. and with current proof of Norwalk residency (30 days or less) — and vote at City Hall.
There is no EDR either at regular polling places, or for the primary.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS will be available from the Town Clerk beginning October 6, 2017.
MUNICIPAL PRIMARY ELECTION, (if necessary): TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2017. Only held if valid petitions have been filed opposing an endorsed candidate of a major party (Democratic or Republican)
Major party endorsements must be made by town committee, caucus, or convention (depending on party rules)
between July 18, 2017 and July 25, 2017. Certification of endorsement must be filed by July 26, 2017.
The Last Day for a voter to switch major parties and vote in the primary is Monday, June 12 2017.
The Last Day for an Unaffiliated voter to join a major party, and vote in that party's primary, is September 11, 2017.
